chrome & marble nails

12 October 2016
After my last class for the week, I felt like being spontaneous and decided to go get my nails done. I've always done it myself at home and I wanted to treat myself to a relaxing me-time.

I couldn't decide between chrome or marble nails so I got them both :D I got nail gel extensions too and they are the LONGEST I've had them. No seriously, they don't go longer than 2cm... Usually I'd have them really short coz I'd cut them every week. So it was a nice change. I'm always up to try something new lol.

Anyway, won't keep you coz lots of nail photos and its hard af to type... Still getting used to these diva ass nails.

saturday societé

A collection of things, events and days. I've been super efficient with blogging lately and if you're wondering why, its bc I'm procrastinating with the 4 essays I'm meant to do... But once I get this post out of the way I'll jump right on it (this is the mantra I've been telling myself for the past 2 weeks).

iPhone 7+ jet black

Pre-ordered on the 9th of September and I was literally 1.5 minutes past 5:01 pm and my order got pushed back onto the 2nd batch. So it took the phone agessss to get to me. Almost a month. But my sister's matte iPhone 7 came right on time on the 16th of September. I was contemplating between the rose gold or the jet black but Faiz told me my 6s+ was rose gold so might as well try something new!

All of the photos here except for a few fuji ones were taken with the i7+.

two lost boys / chapel st

11 October 2016
Last Saturday, we all drove to Windsor to have E's final brunch situation @ Two Lost Boys before she flies back to KL. Had brunch then walked around Chapel St after. Half of the group went to the library to study while the rest of us stayed and shopped.

Brilliant weather, great company, amazing neighbourhood. No complaints.

the art of acceptance

07 October 2016
“she’s not that pretty.”
“he’s not that smart.”
“she can’t sing that well.”
“he's not that strong.”

Why do some individuals have this incessant need to annihilate another person’s self-esteem? Does it stem from feeling threatened? When you feel threatened, you reduce someone else’s value to make YOURSELF feel better by putting yourself on a HIGHER pedestal than them. Who are you to account for and judge someone’s worth and pinpoint it on your own biased spectrum?

Why can’t we look past that? I’ve overheard someone speak about another girl, “X is really shallow, she only knows shopping and living the luxe life,” SO WHAT?  “she’s not that smart, I heard her grades were just OK” SO WHAT? Does that make them less of a person than you are?

The brain and the mind are marvellously amazing. You can love many things, no matter of its monetary value or lack thereof, and STILL be a person of substance. You can still feel a multitude of emotions; crash heads with the turmoils of struggling sadness, the pure joy of happiness and the delight of laughter. These are universally binding feelings, manifested in many forms - felt the same way no matter the age, race and the $ in your pocket. You don’t know what they’ve battled in the past so don’t be so quick to make preconceived notions before you even take some time out and get to know the gal.

I am sometimes guilty of having the train of judgemental thoughts hit me before I can say "stop" but it's all about being reflexive; taking the time out to be critically aware of your thoughts, prejudices and preconceived notions. I had a chat with Bella about this and she said, "while our brain may quickly jump to these conclusions/beliefs, or society may have constructed these intrinsic behaviours, the thought that follows are the most important. We can't control what comes to mind immediately but we can control what we do with that thought and therefore what we bring into action."

There are millions of people who think differently than you so at least try and learn to be more accepting and kind.

Do not reduce someone to the number of likes on their photo, their insta feed, the number of selfies they take, or what they choose to buy and display.

They are, so, so much more than that.

Enjoy your day, keep doing you and take a breather; life’s too short to sweat the small stuff.

Lots of love,

03 October 2016
Ohaiyo! We all spent our AFL Grand Final holiday having brunch in the sun at my favourite cafe. You know, I've lived in Malaysia for the first 18 years of my life and as a born & raised Malaysian, I am no stranger to public holidays. Hari Raya, Chinese New Year, Harvest Festival, Wesak Day, Deepavali, Christmas, King's birthday etc etc I've seen it all.

Or so I thought.

Then I came to Melbourne and found out that they have a public holiday for the final of Australia's favourite sport, the Australia Football League. Walaoooo. Shiok or what???  Hahahahaha.

So Tristan and Stephane had a day off work while Russ, Faiz and I had a day off uni. Kelly's enjoying her last week before she commences work (P.S: U GO GIRL. U EARN THAT DOUGH!!! SO PROUD OF U MAKING DEM DOLLA DOLLA BILLS $$$) and Ee's visiting Stephane from KL.

I was looking through my photos and was trying to decide which ones I wanted to post up, but I loved them all equally with an intense fervour so I just decided to dump all of it here. Sorry for being a little OTT but a girl's gotta do what a girl's gotta do!

My freeeens not including Faiz who was taking the photo heheh

Look at this Kelly with her smize lol

I don't think you understand how beautiful the weather was!!! Sunny and warm but not too hot. Just nice.

If you could hear how we always laugh when we're together, you'd think we're crazy. Sometimes I laugh so hard with Kelly, I LITERALLY have to crunch down into a fetus position coz my tummy hurts too much. She looks sweet and stuff but shes one fucking funny weirdo. LIKE ME! Hahahaha.

We are so OTT!!!! My best friend & I <3

You know I've known Kelly for more than a year and a half now but we only got really, really close 5 months ago. I am a firm believer that the quality and depth in your friendship doesn't rely on the length of time you've known each other, but on the quality of your chemistry. If they bring out the best in you, accepts you for all that you are and is your no. 1 cheerleader. I thought I've had been having good days in Melbourne but after Kelly stumbled her way into my life, I've been having the best.

Also believe that best friend isn't a person, it's a tier lol. I have 4!!! My childhood friends, Bella and Fiqah, my high school sweetheart, Melinda and of course, Kelly. Hehe.

Look into my eyes tell me how u feel boo

Kelly and her beau, Russ who is so fair he is the same shade as the table LOLLLL

Kelly said when Faiz and I look the same when we laugh coz we flash the top and bottom of our teeth hahahahaha. Not poised at all.

Our fooooooood! I had the pumpkin salad, Faiz had the thai beef salad, Tristan had the egg's benedict, Kelly had chicken salad, Russ had the wagyu burger and we shared 2 hotcakes in the middle. Not pictured but Ee had the sticky beef short ribs and Stephane had the fish & chips.

Faiz's thai beef salad yummmy

I loved my pumpkin salad with goat's cheese feta!!!! If you're wondering why I ordered the salad, its bc I finished 1 hotcake to myself lololol.

I swear to god we didn't coordinate our outfits lol, I think it was just a funny coincidence.

Deep in thought but I dunno about what

Ee and Stephane

Me and the Mr.

Trying to pull off a Kelly and Russ

But fail coz cannot maintain

I remembered after this photo was taken, Kelly was like 'eh why so far. come closer'

then I said 'ok closer.'

They do it so nicely omg. Need to learn

And that's it for our brunch!!! Spent a really long time in the sun just chatting and enjoying the warm weather. As I'm writing this, the weather as of right now is gloomy and cold and it looks like its about to rain. So ya, making me feel really grateful for the days when Melbourne decides to get its shit together.

Woke up today in a really great mood, made smoked paprika scrambled eggs for Adik and Faiz and listened to some chill tunes and now I'm here. I've got gym later in an hour so gonna wrap this up now.

Hope you guys are smiling, happy and well.

Lots of love,

tesselaar tulip festival

02 October 2016
Faiz got us tickets to the tulip festival more than a month ago but we were both swamped with assignments :(

So during spring break, we spent our Sunday having late brunch at Dundas and Fausset then drove an hour from the city to get to Tesselaar.

Its Faiz's second time frequenting the festival but it was my first. You know I love flowers and greenery and all things nature so I absolutely loved every minute of it.

I haven't been playing around with my Fuji camera for a while so I decided this was a great opportunity to whip it out and practice a lil photography. I just updated the firmware for the 35mm 1.4 lens and it feels brand new?!?! The update made the lens super fast and tact sharp so I was itching to try it out.

Really quickly for those wondering - I take my photos in RAW (it salvages highlights and shadows better = better manipulability for edits) and use Adobe Lightroom for post-processing.

1000 steps, dandenong

01 October 2016
Faiz and I drove up to the Dandenong Ranges, spent our day hiking, laughing and interweaving our hands while being in the midst of magnificently solitary trees. Its been a few weeks since we went but I distinctly remembered being really calm and contented. We  love being surrounded by lush greenery.

We got lost for a while because our GPS couldn't find "1000 steps" and redirected us to Silvan instead but we made lemonade and thought of it as stumbling on even more exciting places to explore.
